Performing Groups
Students at CDS are given many performance opportunities during the year. We perform at schools, events and festivals throughout Conception and Trinity Bay. Our enthusiastic performers are eager to entertain! If you'd like us to perform at your event please send an email to info@catherinesdancestudio.com.
Annual Student Showcase
Our main Production is our Year End Recital which takes place each spring. All students of CDS are invited to participate in the show; however, it is not compulsory. Show time gives students the opportunity to take their skills from the studio to the stage - where valuable performance experience is gained. Preparing choreography and performing it for our friends and family is both rewarding and fun! Excitement grows after Christmas when classes begin selecting music, learning choreography and designing costumes.
Our annual recital takes place at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts in May. Dates for this years show TBA.
Other Performances & Events
In December CDS presents the Bi-Annual Christmas Spectacular, a Christmas variety show which gives 100% of its proceeds to local charitable organizations. This production not only includes dance performances by some of our students, but also showcases local musicians, school choirs and vocalists. The Christmas Spectacular is proudly supported by The Town of Bay Roberts and is a recognized Festival of Lights Event.
Also in December the studio participates in the Lion's Club Annual Santa Claus Parade in Bay Roberts. For 3 years CDS was awarded the "Best Performing Group" Award in the Parade. Any student over the age of 12 is invited to dance with the studio in the Parade.
This season will find Catherine working with the Angel Fund for Breast Cancer organization. The organization will be hosting a fashion show fundraiser in Bay Roberts on Tuesday, October 13th 2009.

CDS offers Exam Syllabus classes with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) based in London, England and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA). Upon successful completion of a dance exam, candidates are rewarded with an official dance certificate from the ISTD recognizing the grade and discipline passed.
Exams are adjudicated by an International Examiner from the United Kingdom and are generally held in the spring of the year. The ISTD is a world wide governing body for dance education and is the leading dance examinations board, providing techniques upon which to train dancers for the profession.
Entrance into an Exam class is by teacher recommendation only, however, if you are interested in following this program please contact CDS for more information.
